Annapurna, normally translated as goddess of the harvests. In Hinduism, Annapurna is a goddess of fertility, agriculture and avatar of Durga. Annapurna range is series of peaks in the Himalayas, a 55km (34 miles) long massif of which the highest point is Annapurna I (8091m) which is the 10th highest summit in the world. It is located east of great gorge cut through the Himalayan mountain by the Kaligandaki River which separates it from the Dhaulagiri massif (Dhaulagiri I – Annapurna I, 34 km in distance) Annapurna Himal is world’s one of the tuff adventure/hard/dangerous Himalayan climb with a fatality to summit ratio of more than 40 percent.
